CLAREMONT, CA – The St. Francis Brooklyn women's water polo team comes back to the East Coast after participating in the Pomona Tournament. After two days in California, the Terriers put forth a tremendous effort in four games.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
St. Francis Brooklyn – 7 | Concordia – 9
- In their first game of the tournament, the Terriers lost by a small margin to Concordia.
- Kirra Hemric and Tate Renata scored one goal each.
- The remaining five goals were added by the Terriers' captain Kelsey Snelgar, who scored five goals off of the seven shots she took.
- Marycatherine McKendry recorded seven blocks and two steals.
St. Francis Brooklyn – 4 | Loyola Marymount – 13
- In the second game of the tournament, the Terriers fell to LMU, 13-4.
- The St. Francis women's water polo team was down by six at the halftime (9-3). LMU increased the lead by the end of the game, ultimately defeating the Terriers by a nine-goal margin of victory.
- The Terriers' four goals were evenly distributed as Julie Olivares, Nicole Herrick, Erin Gonzalez, and Kelsey Snelgar each recorded a single tally.
- Olivares, Herrick, and Snelgar also registered an assist.
St. Francis Brooklyn – 11 | Fresno Pacific – 12
- In this close encounter, the Sunbirds got away with a last-second victory, having scored the game-winning goal with just nine seconds left on the clock.
- After a back-and-forth game with multiple lead changes, the Terriers were down by three goals at the beginning of the fourth quarter. After three consecutive goals, the Terriers tied the score at 11 goals apiece in what seemed to be the last offense of the game with less than a minute left on the clock.
- Instead, the Sunbirds retaliated in the game's final moments, ultimately taking home the win.
- Snelgar scored seven goals. Tate Renata registered two. Erin Breakey and Erin Gonzalez added the remaining tallies.
St. Francis Brooklyn – 8 | Whittier – 12
- In their last game of the tournament, the Terriers fell to the Whittier Poets, 12-8.
- Snelgar scored a staggering seven goals. Erin Gonzalez added the remaining goal.
- The Terriers' captain Kelsey Snelgar rattled the opponent's cage a total of 20 times over the four-game tournament.

The Terriers come back to the East Coast to open MAAC play. They travel to Lexington, VA, to face Wagner University on Saturday, March 9, at 9 a.m.
