Kelsey Snelgar was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year on Friday evening at the conference's pre-tournament awards' dinner. In addition, she was selected by the league's coach to the Second Team All-Conference squad.
Snelgar, a six-time MAAC Rookie of the Week, set new program records with 103 goals and 103 steals in her initial season on Remsen Street. She hit the century mark in the first quarter of the Terriers' season-finale against Wagner, becoming the first Terrier to score 100 goals in a single-season. The New Zealand native is just the seventh player in MAAC history to accomplish the feat. She also set a new single-season school mark with 103 steals
Snelgar is the first Terrier to win a major award in women's water polo.
