EDISON, NJ – For the fourth time this season, St. Francis Brooklyn sophomore
Kelsey Snelgar has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) women's water polo Offensive Player of the Week. Snelgar has now claimed the award more than any other MAAC student-athlete this season.
Snelgar etched her name in St. Francis Brooklyn history as she broke her own single-season scoring record against Wagner on Saturday. The sophomore has tallied 114 goals this season to lead the MAAC and rattled the cage 19 times in a 3-1 week for the Terriers.
She began the week with seven goals and an assist in a win over Villanova on Saturday. Later that day she recorded four goals against undefeated Wagner. On Sunday, the sophomore rattled the cage five times in a win over La Salle and three times against VMI.
Snelgar currently ranks fifth on the MAAC's single-season goals list with 114. With six goals she would move into second-place on the all-time single-season scoring list. The MAAC single-season record for goals is 146 set by Wagner's Jess Lundgren.
The Terriers are back on the road on Saturday, April 13, when they travel to Philadelphia, PA, to compete in the last conference games of the season. Their first game of the weekend is against Marist at 3 p.m. The following day St. Francis Brooklyn heads to Villanova, PA to face Siena at 10:30 a.m.
