Women's Water Polo Drops A Pair of Hard-Fought MAAC Contests On Saturday

St. Francis Brooklyn suffered a pair of heart-breaking losses to Siena and Villanova on Saturday at Marist.

Against Siena, the Terriers were outscored 4-2 in the first quarter; splitting the second quarter 3-3 and outscoring Siena 2-1 in the third quarter. The Terriers started their rally back and brought the score within a point difference. The fourth quarter started with an 8-7 Siena lead. Unfortunately time was not on their side and the Terriers could not find the back of the net; with not enough left to pull off the win, the Terriers lost by a score of 11-9. Goals were recorded by Erin Gonzalez (1), Emma Gaffney (1), Claire Mueller (2) and Kelsey Snelgar (5). Ashley Harp recorded seven saves and three steals in the goal.

The Terriers made a complete 180 turnaround in their game against Villanova University; they started the game off neck and neck with the Wildcats and ended the first quarter tied and fired up at 4-4. The Terriers outscored the Wildcats in the second quarter 6-5 and split the third quarter 2-2 advancing the score to 12-11 to start the fourth quarter only to be outscored by the Wildcats 4-1 to lose with a score of 14-13. The game was nearly sent into overtime with a questionable foul shot which was shot wide of the cage. Goals were recorded by Julie Olivares (1), Emma Gaffney (1), Claire Mueller (2), Kelsey Snelgar (4), Erin Gonzalez (5). Ashley Harp recorded three saves in the goal.
