BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, NY – St. Francis Brooklyn women's volleyball was strong from start to finish in a 3-0 sweep over Manhattan in non-conference action Wednesday evening. The Terriers had 11 players register kills in the match, led by Arianna Ugolini's 10 on .526 hitting.
The first set went back-and-forth to start before the Terriers took the lead for good at 11-10. An important 6-0 run gave the hosts some breathing room as they coasted to the 25-16 win, capped off with an authoritative kill by Camelia Meléndez.
A dominant second frame saw the Terriers take control early, sparked by a 13-2 run in the middle of the set. Ugolini and Amber Phillips each had three kills to help give St. Francis Brooklyn a commanding 2-0 edge.
Some new faces got on the scoresheet in the final set, as the Terriers closed out the Jaspers. A Naomi Hockless ace put a bow on the victory and St. Francis Brooklyn now heads into the weekend fresh off a win.
For the match, the Terriers hit a sparkling .452, out blocking the Jaspers 10-2.
This weekend, St. Francis Brooklyn will play two Northeast Conference matches on the road, beginning with Merrimack Friday. First serve is set for 5 p.m.
