Terriers Extend Winning Streak to Four-Straight With Win Over Saint Francis (PA)

BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, NY – The St. Francis Brooklyn women's volleyball team (9-16, 5-6 NEC) continues its tremendous play with a come-from-behind victory over Saint Francis (PA) in five sets. After dropping the first two sets, the Terriers rallied together to take the match in five sets for their fifth NEC win of the season.

The fifth conference victory marks the Terriers' most in league play since they won six in 2010. The four-match winning streak is St. Francis Brooklyn's longest of the season and it also marks the first time in program history that it won four-straight NEC contests.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
St. Francis Brooklyn – 3 | Saint Francis (PA) – 2 (26-28, 19-25, 25-19, 25-19, 15-10)
  • Several career performances paced the Terriers to their ninth win of the season. Junior outside hitter Lauren Montgomery was a force for the Terriers all day long. The junior registered a career-high 25 kills while hitting .404. The 25 kills are the most by a student-athlete in the NEC this season and the highest total since Aleksandra Gligoric (two times) and Sacred Heart's Makayla Doyle recorded 27 kills apiece in 2017. Montgomery was electric for the Terriers as she carried them throughout their comeback.
  • Freshman libero Kizzy Rodriguez notched a career-high 40 digs en route to the five-set victory. Rodriguez' 40 digs are the most by a student-athlete in the NEC this season, and the highest total in the league since Central Connecticut's Lindsey Massicotte registered 46 on November 10, 2017. The freshman's 40-dig performance is the first by a student-athlete from St. Francis Brooklyn since the program's all-time digs leader, Liliana Rodriguez also tallied 40 against NJIT on August 27, 2010.
  • Senior setter Nina Tiedt continues to facilitate the offense as she dished out a career-high tying 53 assists. Throughout the Terriers' four-match winning streak, Tiedt has recorded 40 or more assists in each match.
  • Freshman Una Stevic continued her strong play with a near double-double. She finished the match with a career-high 14 kills and nine digs.
  • Sophomore outside hitter Vanja Miljacic had another solid performance for the Terriers. The sophomore notched nine kills and 17 digs, which were just two shy of tying her career-high.
  • Junior middle blocker Taris Pittman finished with 10 kills and hit .231. Senior Mireya Ramirez once again showed why she is a force from the service line. She racked up four aces to set a new season-high. Ramirez was just one ace away from tying the NEC-high for a single match this season.
UP NEXT:
The Terriers return home next Friday, November 2, at 4 p.m. for a meeting with LIU Brooklyn. The Terriers will celebrate Senior Day.
