Terriers Earn Gritty Come from Behind Victory Over Maryland Eastern Shore on Friday

HARTFORD, CT – The St. Francis College Brooklyn women's volleyball team (5-6) picked up a gritty come from behind victory over Maryland Eastern Shore (4-8) in five sets. The win marks the Terriers fifth of the young season, their most in non-conference play since 2017 when they won six matches.

After trailing in the match, 2-1, heading into the fourth set, St. Francis rallied together and put forth a strong team-effort as it battled its way to a five-set victory. The Terriers ran away with the fourth set by a score of 25-17 to knot the match up at 2-2. St. Francis used the momentum gained from that set-win to persevere in the fifth set.

The deciding set proved to be a tight one as the Terriers came out on top, 15-13. Maryland Eastern Shore got out to an early 3-0 lead in the set before the Terriers were able tie the match up at 4-4. The Terriers and Hawks traded points until St. Francis was able to take full advantage of the set.

The Hawks tied the match up at 9-9 and that would be the final time the match was knotted up. Sophomore outside hitter Una Stevic recorded a kill to put the Terriers up, 10-9, and St. Francis would never look back. The Terriers went on to outscore the Hawks, 6-3, down the stretch in the deciding set to seal the victory.
