Kizzy Rodriguez Earns All-NEC Second Team Honors

SOMERSET, NJ – St. Francis College Brooklyn women's volleyball sophomore libero Kizzy Rodriguez was tabbed to the All-NEC Second Team as announced by the league at its annual postseason awards banquet this evening. Rodriguez becomes the first libero in program history to be named to an All-NEC Team. Additionally, she is the first Terrier to take home All-NEC honors since Aleksandra Gligoric was selected to the First Team following the 2017 season.

"Kizzy has worked extremely hard to play within the system we have put in place along with her teammates this season. In my humble opinion, she is just scratching the surface of her potential. I am extremely happy that the other coaches recognize her impact in the game and voted her onto the All-NEC Second Team," said Terriers' Head Coach Amable Martinez.

Rodriguez concluded a tremendous season on Remsen Street as she led the team in digs (500) and digs per set (4.63). The 500 digs were the most in a single-season by a Terrier since Liliana Rodriguez recorded 508 in the 2010 season. During NEC play this season, the libero led the conference in digs per set (5.02) and ranked second in total digs (271). Additionally, she ranked second in the NEC in service aces (27) and service aces per set (0.50).

Through 29 matches this season, the libero finished second in the conference in total digs and third in digs per set (4.63). Rodriguez also finished second in the league in total service aces (43) and second in service aces per set (0.40).

The sophomore registered 10 or more digs in 25 matches this season and recorded 20 or more in 11 contests. Rodriguez totaled 30 or more digs twice this season and tallied an NEC-high 35 digs in a home victory over Saint Peter's on August 31.

St. Francis concluded a successful 2019 campaign, which saw the program win 14 matches. The 14 wins were tied for the most by the Terriers since the 1999 season.

For her career, Rodriguez has accumulated 955 digs and 4.53 digs per set over the course of two seasons in Brooklyn Heights.
