BROOKLYN, NY - St. Francis Brooklyn women's tennis concluded the regular season this weekend, taking on Sacred Heart and LIU in a final tune up prior to the conference tournament. The Terriers fell to both the Pioneers and Sharks by a score of 6-1 and 7-0 respectively.
Nicolle Romero won the team's only point of the weekend, taking a three-set win in No. 6 singles. The junior opened with a first set win and proceeded to drop the next set to take it to an all -important final frame. She went on to win 10-7 in a back-and-forth finish. Teammate
Ximena Cano lost a heartbreaker against the Sacred Heart's Olivia Kharkover. After falling behind by a set, the freshman rallied to grab a 7-5 victory in the second. The third set super tiebreaker went the distance but Cano fell 11-9.
Against LIU, the Sharks managed to win every matchup to get the win.
The Terriers now turn their attention to the NEC tournament next weekend. Action begins Friday at 11:30 a.m.
