Box Score 3 BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, NY – The St. Francis Brooklyn women's tennis team (2-3, 1-0 NEC) concluded a strong weekend of play as it picked up victories over Coppin State and Rider in match play.
Before the Terriers played three matches between Saturday and Sunday, they sent a pair of student-athletes to compete in the ITA Championships hosted by Yale in New Haven, CT.
Sophomore Jean-Na Koo and senior
Ana Orozco represented the Terriers at the ITA Championships on October 12. Koo met UMass' Martina Bocchi in singles play and was edged 6-2, 6-1. Koo and Orozco also competed in doubles action as they took on Siena's duo of Nanea Perkins and Dilara Spicer. The Terriers' doubles pair fell to Perkins and Spicer, 8-4.
St. Francis Brooklyn – 1 | Wagner – 6
The Terriers traveled to Staten Island to face Wagner on Saturday morning for their Northeast Conference opener. The Seahawks came out on top by a final score of 6-1 in the contest. Koo picked up her third win of the season from the No. 1 singles position. The sophomore knocked off Wagner's top singles competitor, Fidan Khalilzade, 6-1, 5-7, 10-7.
St. Francis Brooklyn – 4 | Coppin State – 0
On Saturday, the Terriers played their second match of the day and first of the 2018-19 season at their home court on the grounds of the United States National Tennis Center in Flushing, NY. The Terriers took four points from the Eagles en route to their first win of the season. Koo rolled to her fourth win in singles play with a 6-1, 6-1 defeat of Brittanie Cahua.
Freshman
Sandra Siles Polo picked up a win from the Terriers' No. 3 singles position. Siles Polo bested Shariah Dunwell 6-2, 6-2. St. Francis Brooklyn picked up its third point in singles action when junior
Andrea Rojo earned a win by default from No. 6 singles.
In doubles action, the Terriers dominated the Eagles as they took all three doubles matchups. Koo and Siles Polo cruised to a 6-1 win over Cahua and Tinashe Gwaze from the top singles spot. Junior

Runsi Patro also came out victorious by the score of 6-1 from No. 2 doubles. Orozco and Rojo picked up a win by default from No. 3 doubles.

On Sunday, the Terriers took on Rider in what would be their final competition of the fall season. St. Francis Brooklyn used a hard-fought effort to pick up their second win in a row and close out their fall schedule on a positive note.
Koo stayed perfect in singles match play; with her fifth win in as many matches. She took on Rider's Vanessa Canda and defeated her 6-4, 6-2. This fall, Koo went a perfect (5-0) from the Terriers' No. 1 singles position.
Siles Polo earned a 7-5, 6-3; win over Amanda Binder from No. 4 singles. Junior
Akyi Lenjor notched a win by default at No. 6 singles for the Terriers.
On the doubles side of the action, Patro and Siles Polo came up with a big win from the No. 1 spot as they bested Rider's Canda and Binder, 6-2. The Terriers gained the advantage in doubles play when freshman
Sheila Cetina and Lenjor won by default from No. 3 doubles.
