Women’s Swimming and Diving Loses Tight Battle with Iona

Terriers battle Gaels, fall 150-144

NEW ROCHELLE, NY – St. Francis Brooklyn women's swimming and diving opened the 2022-23 with a tight loss to Iona Friday afternoon. The Terriers were led by Elena Pistrin's two individual victories in the 100 and 200-yard Breaststroke. 

Pistrin won her events with respective times of 1:07.33 and 2:25.28. She was also the second leg of a 200-yard medley relay team that finished second. 

Mariajose Lopez won the 1000-yard Freestyle with a time of 10:38.70, over 13 seconds faster than her closest competitor and then went on to win the 500-yard Freestyle as well (5:14.97). 

Laetita Bouc won the 200-yard Butterfly by over a second with a time of 2:11.16. 

Boel Bergquist capped things off with a narrow victory in the 200-yard IM. Her time of 2:11.87 won it by .07 seconds. 

UP NEXT: The Terriers will take on NJIT and UMBC next weekend as part of the Highlander Invitational.
