NEWARK, NJ - The St. Francis Brooklyn women's swimming and diving team completed action at the Highlander Invitational Saturday morning at the NJIT Wellness and Events Center. The team took on UMBC and Vermont over the two-day event.
Elayna Pistrin won three events to lead the Terriers and continued her strong start to the season. The sophomore won the 100-yard breaststroke event with a time of 1:06.64, which is over half a second faster than her time in the opener against Iona. She followed that up with a win in the 200-yard IM (2:10.86) and a win in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:24.07).
Boel Bergquist had a top five finish in four events. She took fourth in the 200-yard freestyle (1:57.36) and fourth in the 400-yard IM (4:41.41), third in the 100-yard freestyle (53.89) and fifth in the 200-yard IM (2:13.13).
Diver Abby Scruton also notched a win, taking first on the 1-meter board with a cumulative score of 193.50. She also took sixth on the 3-meter board.
Mariajose Lopez finished second in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of (10:37.55) and also notched a sixth-place time of 5:15.85 in the 500-yard freestyle.
A solid day was had by Kristy Nagtzaam, who took fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.76) and the 50-yard freestyle (24.89). She also logged a fifth-place finish in the 200-yard IM (2:13.73).
