WASHINGTON, D.C. - St. Francis Brooklyn women's soccer fell to Howard by a score of 2-1 Sunday afternoon in a road Northeast Conference contest. The Terriers received a goal by graduate student Lauren Taylor halfway through the second half, but the Bison were able to put across two finishes of their own.
Both teams equally possessed the ball early on, but it was Howard who capitalized on an opportunity in the 25th minute. Off a corner kick, Rachel Suttle was able to finish a header in the top of the net. The Terriers had three early shots before being held in check for the rest of the half.
The second half saw St. Francis Brooklyn perfectly execute a set piece to tie the score. With the ball resting on the far-left side of the field, Sevaste Mitsopoulos passed a ball on the ground to a streaking Taylor who was able to get the ball past the goalkeeper to give the squad new life.
The Bison responded five minutes later on a rebound off a shot to make it 2-1. Klil Keshwar made several saves down the stretch to keep the Terriers in it, but the score remained the same as the buzzer sounded.
Keshwar made eight saves in the defeat.
