Terriers Earn First Home Victory against Sacred Heart

BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, NY– The St. Francis College Brooklyn women's soccer team (2-5-1, 2-5-1) earned its first home victory inside Pier 5 at Brooklyn Bridge Park as they knocked off the Pioneers of Sacred Heart University (2-5-1, 2-5-1) by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday afternoon.

Looking to send senior defender Jazzmin Forwood out on top, the Terriers were primed to ensure their Australian native would not leave without a smile, and a memory for her journey home.

Following the halftime deficit, St. Francis Brooklyn put offensive pressure on the Pioneers, where sophomore defender Oormi Sivapatham aimed for a crossing Isabelle Gollette up the middle. The ball would deflect off Gollette's cleat, and in perfect position for junior midfielder Barbara Zagonyi, where she netted the team's tying goal minutes upon the second half opening.

The Terriers continued its offensive pressure in the Pioneers defending third, where a hand ball in the box, would lead to a penalty kick goal, taken by junior forward Sarah Dewitt. The game-winning shot would land past a diving Pioneers keeper to conclude the match in favor of the home squad.
