Box Score BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, NY – St. Francis Brooklyn women's soccer fell to Sacred Heart by a score of 3-0 Thursday afternoon at Brooklyn Bridge Park. The Terriers surrendered an early goal, and despite controlling possession for much of the second half, gave up two late ones to finish the match.
As both teams found their footing early, Kendra Rust came close to a highlight reel finish on the first goal scoring opportunity of the match. She ripped a right-footed shot from 30 yards and hit the right post before the Pioneer defense was able to clear it away.
Shortly after, Sacred Heart was able to capitalize on a deflection off a Terrier, as the ball found the feet of Grace O'Hara. With only the keeper to beat, she tucked away the finish to give the visitors a 1-0 edge.
The Terriers earned a few more corner kicks over the course of the first half, but were unable to get an equalizer and trailed 1-0 at the break.
St. Francis Brooklyn controlled possession to start the second, and Isabelle Gollette nearly capitalized on a long cross. The senior controlled the service and sent a volley just over the crossbar.
Later in the half, an untouched Terrier cross nearly found the far post, but Sacred Heart countered with a breakaway goal. A few minutes later, they capitalized on a penalty kick to put away the win.
The Terriers will take on Howard next Sunday. Kick-off is set for 1 p.m.
