EASTON, MA - St. Francis Brooklyn women's soccer hit the road for an early Sunday matchup with Stonehill, falling 1-0 to the Skyhawks in Northeast Conference action. The Terriers fired 13 shots compared to just nine for Stonehill, but surrendered a goal just over three minutes into the second half.
Kendra Rust led the way with four shots, followed by three by
Izzy Gollette. Gollete had two shots on goal. Goalkeeper
Klil Keshwar made four saves in net.
The Terriers pressured the Skyhawks early in the first half, as Gollette fired a shot that was saved in the fifth minute. A few moments later,
Lauren Taylor had a shot that went over the bar. Stonehill fought back and took a shot that was saved by Keshwar and turned the tide with two more shots on goal before the half was over. The Terriers took the final shot of the half, but were unable to score and it was 0-0 at the break.
Taylor took the first shot of the half, but Stonehill scored the only goal of the game off an ensuing corner kick. The Terriers would apply the pressure for the remainder of the game but the Skyhawk defense didn't break. Rust sent the final shot of the game over the bar in the 87th minute.
NEXT UP: St. Francis Brooklyn returns home for its season finale Thursday against LIU. The Terriers will celebrate their seniors prior to a 3 p.m. start.
