Terriers Post Winning Saturday At Music City Classic

SMYRNA, TN - The St. Francis Brooklyn women's bowling team captured three of five traditional team matches in Saturday's competition at the Music City Classic, hosted by Vanderbilt University at Smyrna Bowling Center in Smyrna, Tennessee.  After dropping the first two matches of the day, the Terriers rattled off three straight wins to conclude the day.

Tulane University 1,118, St. Francis Brooklyn 968
The Green Wave had the good fortune of St. Patrick's weekend en route to one of the highest team scores of the weekend against the Terriers in the day's opening match.  For St. Francis, sophomore Lexis Ortiz rolled strikes from frames two through five and finished with a team leading 224, while classmate Kimmi D'Ottavio rolled a clean 218 and freshman Taylor Waglione tallied a single-open 196 score.

Arkansas State University 1,060, St. Francis 997
The Terriers did all they could to keep pace with perennial NCAA tournament participant Arkansas State, but the Red Wolves had only two open frames in the entire match.  The Terriers were paced by Waglione's strong 231 game, Ortiz' 201, freshman Victoria Hollywood's 199 and D'Ottavio's second straight clean game, in which she tallied a 188.

St. Francis 999, Drury University 856
The Terriers entered the win column for the day with their victory over Drury, led by freshman Heather Waters' clean 248 game which included three turkeys.  Hollywood added a 215 and D'Ottavio rolled a 183 to aid the St. Francis effort.

St. Francis 960, University of Alabama-Birmingham 955
St. Francis evened its record at 2-2 on the day by edging the Blazers of UAB in the penultimate match of the day.  Waglione led a balanced effort with her 206 game, followed closely by a 195 from Waters, 194 by Hollywood and 192 by D'Ottavio.  D'Ottavio's strike in the anchor spot in frame ten sealed the win.

St. Francis 945, Elmhurst College 848
D'Ottavio strung seven consecutive strikes, starting in frame three, and finished with a 244 score as the Terriers overpowered Elmhurst in the day's finale.  Waters added a 190 and Waglione a 184 to contribute in the win.

D'Ottavio averaged 205 for five games on the day, and Waters carried a 202.75 average in four games after entering the Tulane match as a substitute.
