LIMERICK, PA - The St. Francis Brooklyn women's bowling team concluded their stay at the Kutztown University Golden Bear Invitational with a 7-6 record after winning two of three best of seven Baker format matches on Sunday, the final day of competition. This weekend's event was contested at Limerick Lanes in Limerick, Pennsylvania.
St. Francis Brooklyn 4, Maryville University 1
The Terriers dropped their first game of the day, 198-175, but bounced back by winning four games in a row with scores of 258, 192, 201 and 202. Sophomore
Kimmi D'Ottavio rolled a clean match, while the freshman trio of
Taylor Waglione,
Heather Waters and
Victoria Hollywood each filled nine of their 10 frames over the course of the match. The 258 in game two was a result of a clean game by the Terriers.
University of Wisconsin-Whitewater 4, St. Francis 2
After splitting the first four games, with the Terrier wins coming courtesy of games of 190 and 185, the Warhawks edged St. Francis 193-183 in game five and then closed out the match with a 202 score in the sixth game. Waglione filled 10 of 12 frames for St. Francis.
St. Francis 4, Duquesne University 0
The day concluded with a four-game sweep of the Dukes. After rolling to a stellar 269-202 win in the third game of the match, the Terriers closed out the affair with a tight 204-200 verdict in game four, rolling their second straight clean game and finishing it out with D'Ottavio's leadoff strike, followed by a 9-count and spare, in frame ten. Sophomore
Lexis Ortiz joined Waglione, Hollywood and Waters in putting together clean matches.
UP NEXT:
The Terriers will return to the Keystone State for the Kutztown Bowling For A KUre tournament on February 2-3. That event will be held at Jay Lanes in Douglassville, Pennsylvania. This year's tournament will be a two-day, 10 team event. Last year, the Terriers won the title at the inaugural event which comprised six teams and took place on a single day.
