Terrier Bowlers Wrap Up Hawk Flight Invite

The St. Francis Brooklyn women's bowling team concluded its final regular season event on Sunday with the playoff bracket at the Monmouth University Hawk Flight Invite, contested at King Pin Lanes in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey.  The Terriers completed the weekend with an eighth place finish.

St. Francis Brooklyn 4, LIU Brooklyn 0

The Terriers defeated the Blackbirds in game one, 180-159.  After that, both teams struggled with the pattern as strikes were difficult to come by.  However, the Terriers were able to gut out three more wins, by 4, 5 and 6 pins and captured the best of seven match in a sweep.

Franklin Pierce University 4, St. Francis 0

The Ravens rolled a strong match in winning four consecutive games over the Terriers in round two.  St. Francis put together a 190 in game two, with just one open frame, but that came up 13 pins short.  Sophomore Jenna Bahnsen and freshman Kimmi D'Ottavio each filled seven of their eight frames during the match.

LIU Brooklyn 4, St. Francis 2

The Terriers won game one by 10 pins before the Blackbirds responded with three wins in a row.  St. Francis climbed back into the match with a strong 214-190 win in game five, opening only once, but LIU-Brooklyn took the match with a 235 in game six. 

The Terriers will return to action at the Northeast Conference Championship in Howell, New Jersey on March 23.  They are one of four teams competing in a qualifying bracket, and two of the four teams will advance to the championship bracket which commences on Saturday, March 24 and concludes on March 25.  The Northeast Conference Champion will receive an automatic qualification to the NCAA Women's Bowling Championship in April.
