Terrier Bowlers Top Three Opponents On Day Two of Golden Bear Invitational

The St. Francis Brooklyn women's bowling team continued its stay at the Kutztown University Golden Bear Invitational on Saturday, winning three of five traditional team matches.  The Terriers improved greatly over their performance in Baker matches on Friday.

In a strong team performance, St. Francis had only eight open frames with no bowler having more than two, in beginning the day with a win over the Warhawks.  Sophomore Jaclyn Bianco led the Terriers with a 204, stringing four strikes in a row from frames five through eight.  Also striking in those same four frames was freshman Kimmi D'Ottavio, who finished with a 199.  Senior Emma Catone rolled a 201 with just one open frame.
 
University of Alabama Birmingham 1,033, St. Francis 982
The Blazers won this match despite an excellent showing by the Terriers.  Bianco rolled a clean game, including six consecutive strikes, posting a 243 game.  D'Ottavio's 215 and Catone's 197 helped to make this match, while a defeat, a close match.
 
St. Francis 919, Bethune Cookman University 868
The day's third match was as close to a total team win as one can find.  Catone led the way with a 189, D'Ottavio rolled a 188, sophomores Taylor Smith and Jenna Bahnsen posted games of 187 and 181, and Bianco rolled a 174.

Bianco's 208 paced St. Francis to their third consecutive win, with D"Ottavio closing out the game with a four-bagger for a 195, and Catone adding a 193.

Catone's 181 was the high game for the Terriers in the day's closer, while Bahnsen contributed a 180 and Bianco rolled a 174.
 
Bianco's 200.6 average for the day led the Terriers, while D'Ottavio and Catone both averaged 192.2.
 
The tournament wraps up on Sunday with three best-of-seven Baker format matches in a bracket.  St. Francis will face host Kutztown in match one.
