HAMILTON, NJ - The St. Francis Brooklyn women's bowling team wrapped up its weekend of competition at the Monmouth University Hawk Flight Invite on Sunday at Hamilton Lanes in Hamilton, New Jersey. Sunday's play began with one traditional team match, and continued with two best of seven Baker format matches in bracket play.
Monmouth University 985, St. Francis Brooklyn 932
The tournament's round robin pool play concluded with the Terriers dropping a 53-pin verdict to the host Hawks of Monmouth. Sophomore
Taylor Waglione rolled a clean 234 game, junior
Victoria Doto fired a 198, and classmate
Kimmi D'Ottavio posted a 195 score.
Waglione finished with a team-leading 1,250 total pinfall in six team matches, and junior
Lexis Ortiz also averaged above the 200 mark with 1,241 total pins in the six matches.
LIU 4, St. Francis Brooklyn 3
The Terriers began the first of two best-of-seven matches with three consecutive victories, before the Sharks posted a 227-213 win in game four and proceeded to score over 200 in each of the remaining games for a come-from-behind seven game victory. Ortiz filled 13 of her 14 frames, and had six strikes in seven sixth-frame attempts.
Wilmington University (Delaware) 4, St. Francis Brooklyn 2
After Wilmington took a 2-0 lead in the match, St. Francis rallied with a pair of victories, scoring 237 and 236 in games three and four. Wilmington wrapped up the match by taking the next two games, capped by a tight 225-223 verdict in game six. Ortiz was clean, filling all 12 of her frames, while senior
Taylor Smith and D'Ottavio each filled 11 of 12 for the Terriers.
