BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, NY – The St. Francis College Brooklyn women's bowling team is set to begin the 2019-20 season this weekend as the Terriers head to Frederick, MD to compete in the Mount Shootout from Saturday, October 19, until Sunday, October 20.
St. Francis is slated to compete in 10 regular season tournaments followed by the USBC Intercollegiate Singles and the 2020 Northeast Conference (NEC) Championship. Qualification for both postseason tournaments are based on the Terriers' performance from the regular season.

The Terriers return seven student-athletes to their roster in 2019-20 as the team consists of two seniors, three juniors, and two sophomores. The seniors are
Jenna Bahnsen and
Taylor Smith, while the junior class is made up of
Victoria Doto,
Kimmi D'Ottavio, and
Lexis Ortiz. The sophomores are
Taylor Waglione and
Heather Waters.
Last season, Waglione became the first Terrier to claim a Northeast Conference (NEC) major award as she was named the 2019 Rookie of the Year. Additionally, she was tabbed to the All-NEC Second Team and All-Rookie Team following a memorable first year on Remsen Street.
Waglione proceeded to led the Terriers with a traditional average of 191.39 in 46 games bowled. She finished the year with 14 200-plus games, including a stellar 257 against Mount St. Mary's at the season's second NEC tournament. Within Northeast Conference play, encompassing 18 matches, Waglione topped all NEC rookies, and ranked fourth among all bowlers, with a 19.95 overall frame average.
Right behind Waglione was Waters with a traditional average of 186.08 in 37 games. Waters began her collegiate career with a 258 game against Caldwell on October 14, 2018. D'Ottavio bowled in the most games for the Terriers last season as she appeared in 47 and recorded a traditional average of 185.02. The Pittsburgh, PA native recorded a high-game of 257 last season against Wilmington.
The 12
th annual NEC Championship, a five-team tournament, will unfold over the course of three days (March 20-22, 2020) at Hamilton Lanes in Hamilton, NJ. The five postseason qualifiers will be determined by the final NEC regular season standings.
Each NEC team will contest an 18-match conference schedule spread out over three meets at three different venues. The first conference meet (NEC #1) will consist of total pinfall baker matches on November 9-10 in Mechanicsburg, PA. The second weekend (NEC #2), which will follow a traditional team match format, is set for December 7-8 in York, PA. The final regular season league meet (NEC #3), a best-of-seven baker match event, will take place in Stratford, NJ on February 22-23, 2020.
