Catone Qualifies For National Individual Championships

Senior bowler Emma Catone qualified for the National Individual Tournament after placing seventh out of 174 competitors with a score of 1,240 at the 2018 Intercollegiate Singles Championship Sectional Qualifiers, held at 30 Strikes Lane in Stratford, New Jersey on Friday evening.

Catone bowled her tournament-high of 229 in the sixth and final game to edge Karsyn Lukosius of Fairleigh Dickinson by just two points to take the final qualifying spot.

"I'm so proud of Emma this past year, especially the last few months where I've seen some of the best shots ever from her," said Terriers' Head Coach Dawn Gugliaro.  "Her decision-making with on lane adjustments and ball selection have been on point.  Her ability to stay in the moment and focused is the reason she has been able to put up the big numbers. I'm looking forward to seeing her shoot at the NEC Championships as well as at the International Singles Championships in Nebraska!"

Catone had been building steam by finishing as the highest traditional game scorer in the NEC, leading the league with a 207 average.  Three weeks ago, she finished top-8 at the highly competitive Monmouth Hawk Flight Invitational with a 196 average.  This weekend she orchestrated a top-7 finish by averaging another 207.

The National Tournament will be held April 16-21 at Suns Valley Lanes in Lincoln, Nebraska and will feature just 24 competitors.
