Bowling Wraps Up Seahawk Invitational With Pair of Baker Wins

Senior Kimmi D’Ottavio was named to the All-Tournament Team, finishing in second place individually.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - The St. Francis Brooklyn women's bowling team concluded their first tournament of the spring semester on Sunday afternoon at the Wagner College Seahawk Invitational, contested at Rab's Country Lanes in Staten Island, New York.

Sunday's competition consisted of five-game Baker format matches, and the Terriers came away with a pair of victories to conclude the weekend with a .500 record (5-5).

St. Francis Brooklyn 854, Wagner College 789
The Terriers took a 54 pin lead after three games, and edged away to post their first victory of the day over the host Seahawks.  Senior Lexis Ortiz and sophomore Laura McConnon both filled all ten of their frames for clean matches.

Saint Francis (PA) 900, St. Francis Brooklyn 807
After taking the first game by six pins, the Terriers dropped the second by 60 pins and the Red Flash continued to extend the lead through the rest of the match.  Ortiz rolled her second straight clean match with six strikes and four spares, while McConnon and senior Kimmi D'Ottavio each filled eight of their ten frames.

Caldwell 945, St. Francis Brooklyn 798
The Cougars gained a large lead through the first four games, and while the Terriers rolled a 213 in the finale, the match was out of reach.  D'Ottavio and senior Heather Waters each filled nine of their ten frames.

Adelphi 991, St. Francis Brooklyn 783
The Panthers rolled a strong match, outscoring the Terriers in all five games.  Waters, Ortiz and D'Ottavio each had only one open frame, filling nine of their ten frames during the match.

St. Francis Brooklyn 885, St. Thomas Aquinas 762
Thanks to a 215 in game two, the Terriers jumped to an early 88 pin advantage, and while St. Thomas Aquinas was able to close the gap, a St. Francis 191 in game five sealed the win.  Ortiz rolled another clean match, and D'Ottavio filled nine of ten frames for the Terriers.

The next action for the Terriers will be the second Northeast Conference round-robin weekend in Mount Joy, Pennsylvania on February 5-6.
