Bowling Picks Up Two More Wins On Saturday

CROYDON, PA - The St. Francis Brooklyn women's bowling team continued competition at the Northeast Invitational, co-hosted by Long Island University and Sacred Heart University at AMF Bristol Pike Lanes in Croydon, Pennsylvania on Saturday.  The Terriers won a pair of matches, while coming up short against a pair of former NCAA champions.  Saturday's competition consisted of five traditional team matches.
 
Louisiana Tech University 954, St. Francis Brooklyn 844
Saturday's play began against the Lady Techsters, in a match which was tight until the final frame, when Louisiana Tech pulled away.  Junior Victoria Doto paced the Terriers with a 203 game, and junior Kimmi D'Ottavio added a 178.
 
Sam Houston State University 936, St. Francis Brooklyn 854
The Terriers were next matched against the Bearkats of Sam Houston, one of two former national champions on Saturday's schedule, and dropped an 82-pin decision.  Sophomore Heather Waters was St. Francis' leader with a 187 game, and D'Ottavio was again second with a 173.
 
St. Francis Brooklyn 917, Kutztown University 788
The Terriers gained their first win of the day with a fine showing against the Golden Bears of Kutztown.  Again, it was Waters pacing the Terriers with a 193 game, D'Ottavio chipped in with a 183 and sophomore Taylor Waglione posted a 182 score.
 
McKendree University 1,069, St. Francis Brooklyn 945
The Bearcats of McKendree took the lead in the overall pinfall standings by firing a resounding 1,069 team score against the Terriers in the day's penultimate matchup.  The Terriers rolled what was their highest score of the day to that point as well.  D'Ottavio was the top Terrier with a clean 243 game, and senior Taylor Smith joined her in the 200 club with a 210 score.
 
St. Francis Brooklyn 946, Maryville University (MO) 802
In the final match of the day, the Terriers came away with a big win over Maryville, leapfrogging them in the pinfall standings.  Smith was the Terrier leader with a 214 game, Waglione rolled a 200, D'Ottavio added a 191 and junior Lexis Ortiz posted a 185 score.
