Terriers Upended by Blue Devils in 2019-20 Finale

NEW BRITAIN, CT– The St. Francis College Brooklyn women's basketball team (8-21, 4-14) was upended by the Blue Devils of Central Connecticut State University (4-25, 3-15) by a score of 75-54 inside the Detrick Gymnasium on Thursday evening.

Returning to Connecticut for the second time in six days, St. Francis College Brooklyn looked to conclude their season on a positive note, despite missing the 2020 NEC Tournament, as their opponent in Central Connecticut. Opening up the scoring for the Terriers, would be junior forward Abby Anderson, who would start her sixth consecutive game and 11th of the season. Off a missed triple attempt from the Blue Devils, freshman guard Cayln Richardson would grab the defensive rebound, and find freshman forward Jenna Jordan in transition to earn the teams' seventh point and would tie the contest. Junior guard Marta Zori would then tally the Terriers' next pair of baskets to extend the lead to a pair of possessions. The Blue Devils' Ashley Forker would sink home a lay-up from the near sideline to give Central a 13-12 lead into the second stanza.

Both programs would continue to trade baskets, until the Blue Devils would take a multi-possession lead following multiple consecutive baskets and turnovers by the Terriers. Central would conclude the second 10 on a 7-1 run and take an eight-point lead thanks in large part to Emma McCamus and Ashley Berube.

The Blue Devils would open the second half on a 7-0 run all the way until the 7:27 mark of the third quarter when junior forward Ally Lassen would lay one home to calm the crowd inside Detrick Gymnasium. Following Central's second 7-0 run of the quarter, the home team would blow the game wide open and take a double-digit lead.

The Terriers would fall in their fourth consecutive contest to close out their 2019-20 campaign. Ally Lassen would tally 126 free-throws on the season, which would land her fifth on the single game season record for free-throws made in the Remsen Record book. Freshman guard Nevena Dimitrijevic would finish off her historic freshman season with 174 assists, which is ranked third all-time on the single season assists listing on the aforementioned listing.
