MOREHEAD, KY – The St. Francis Brooklyn women's basketball team (3-0) rolled past Chicago State (0-3), 110-73, en route to its third consecutive win to start the 2018-19 season. The 110 points scored are the most in St. Francis Brooklyn women's basketball program history.
Before this season, the Terriers never recorded 100 or more points in a contest in their entire history. Three games into the
Linda Cimino era, St. Francis Brooklyn has gone over the century mark twice (scored 102 points on opening day). Cimino moves to 3-0 in her first three games as head coach of the Terriers.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
St. Francis Brooklyn – 110 | Chicago State – 73
- The Terriers have been on an offensive tear to start the season as they are averaging 95.0 points per game, which is currently the third-highest total in the NCAA.
- St. Francis Brooklyn shot 49.4 percent from the field and converted a program record 40 field goals. They had six student-athletes score in double figures, and as a team, they shot 43.8 percent from three (7-of-16) and 79.3 percent from the free-throw line (23-of-29).
- Senior guard Amy O'Neill recorded her second-career double-double. The guard scored a career-high 18 points and dished out a career-best 11 assists. She shot 7-of-11 from the field, her seven field goals were a career-high. O'Neill added three rebounds and two steals in 24 minutes of action. Her 11 assists are the most in a game by an NEC student-athlete this season.
- Freshman guard Kate Bauhof was a force off the bench for the Terriers as she scored a career-high 18 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field, which included going 3-of-5 from three-point range. She shot a perfect 7-of-7 from the free-throw line and recorded three rebounds. Bauhof tallied 11 of her 18 points in the second half.
- Freshman guard Ebony Horton continues to assert her presence on the court as a well-versed player. Horton scored an early career-best 16 points on 7-of-14 shooting. She recorded four rebounds, three steals, and two assists. Horton's three steals were a career-high.
- Sophomore Ally Lassen built off of her strong game against Manhattan last Saturday. Lassen poured in a career-high 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the floor and went 3-of-3 from the free-throw line. She pulled down six rebounds, which was just one shy of tying a career-high.
- Red-shirt junior guard Mia Ehling shot lights out off the bench for the Terriers. The guard totaled 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the field and went 3-of-3 from behind the arc.
- Sophomore forward Abby Anderson had a solid game in 18 minutes of play off the bench. She finished with a near double-double with 10 points and eight rebounds.
- The Terriers scored a staggering 62 points off their bench, totaled 30 points in the paint, 22 second chance points, and 18 fast break points.
- Their three-game winning streak matches their longest since winning since they won three in a row last season (January 13-20).
