Terriers Downed by Sharks on Remsen Street

BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, NY– The St. Francis College Brooklyn women's basketball team (1-6, 1-6) fell to the Sharks of Long Island University (2-5, 2-5) by a score of 54-43 on late Saturday afternoon inside the Daniel Lynch '38 Gymnasium.

Following a near two-week layoff for head coach Linda Cimino's Terriers, St. Francis started off lightning speed, with a pair of buckets from senior forward Ally Lassen, followed by freshman guard Nevena Dimitrijevic. The second bucket was assisted by the aforementioned Lassen. The Terriers were off and running to a 16-4 start.

The Sharks found their game, which the Terriers were unable to rebound from. LIU was able to piece together a string of forced double-digit turnovers of the Terriers, that saw a scoring drought for the home-team, head into double-digits.

Coming out of the locker room at halftime, Cimino called a timeout, which propelled the Terriers on a 9-2 run, off the finger-tips of freshman forward Fruzsina Horvath, in which she scored seven of those nine by herself, and help narrow the lead to single digits. The Sharks would return to form, and subsequently ensure a Terriers' attempt at a comeback, would not work.

St. Francis College won the battle in the paint, which saw a 28 spot in the respective column, compared to the Sharks' 20. The Terriers' also won the battle on the boards, as they were able to out rebound LIU, but also obtain three more offensive boards than their opposition (15-12).
