Terriers Continue Home Dominance in Victory Over Saint Peter’s

BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, NY – The St. Francis Brooklyn women's basketball team (6-3) picked up its second consecutive victory against the Saint Peter's Peacocks (4-6) in comeback fashion on Monday evening. The Terriers improve to 12-4 at the Pope Physical Education Center throughout the past two seasons.

Coming home to Brooklyn after a triple-overtime victory, the Terriers opened the game with a jumper from Dominique Ward to get things started. St. Francis hit a bump in the road when the Peacocks scored seven unanswered points just before the media timeout to jumpstart their team in the early going, 10-4.

Late in the first quarter, a fight for the ball between Ebony Horton and Tyara McQueen eventually led to a triple from the left wing by leading scorer Jade Johnson.

With the deficit at five at the mid-point of the second quarter, a pass down low to the 6-foot-1 Ally Lassen fights her way against the Peacocks' Princess Featherson to narrow the lead down to three.

The Terriers controlled the bulk of the second half, as they scored a combined 39 compared to 31. With the Terriers down a single-point at the 2:56 mark in the third quarter, Amy O'Neill stole a Saint Peter's inbounds pass, and took the ball coast-to-coast and finished with a layup to put her team up by one (48-47).

In the fourth quarter, After the Terriers went on a 12-0 run, the Peacocks went on a 14-4 run of their own, down the stretch. With 44.2 seconds remaining in regulation, a pull-up jumper from Dominique Ward from the charity stripe, made all the difference as she sank the game-winning bucket to lead her squad to their sixth win of the season.

St. Francis Brooklyn shot 28-of-63 from the field (44.4%), along with 13-of-17 from the free-throw line. The Terriers won the battle in the paint (42-34) and scored 10 fast break points.
