Box Score BROOKLYN, NY – The St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers ended their regular season by outlasting a resilient challenge from the Bryant Bulldogs, 66-60. By virtue of their victory, the Terriers cap off their regular season with a record of (13-16, 9-9 Northeast Conference), and will be the third seed in the NEC Playoffs beginning Wednesday.
The Game:
The Bulldogs opened the game with a 11-2 run, setting off a quarter which resulted in a 20-7 advantage. After falling behind 24-9, the Terriers retaliated with a 13-3 run, forcing a second Bryant timeout with 3:55 left in the quarter, bringing the once 15-point lead down to five, 27-22.
Down the stretch in the second, the Terriers inched even closer, trailing only 33-31 heading into the second half. In the third quarter, the Terriers continued to have success defensively, restricting Bryant to five third quarter points, and holding a 43-38 lead heading into the fourth.
In the final period, the Terriers led by as many as eight. Bryant cut the lead to two with just under one minute remaining in two different instances, but the clutch free throw shooting of St. Francis Brooklyn was able to hold off their NEC-foe to end the game, and their regular season.
The Terriers:
Jade Johnson bounced back with a game-high 20-point effort, shooting 6-of-12 from the field and 4-of-7 from three, while also coming away with five rebounds.
On Senior Day,
Alex Delaney dropped 13 points. The Sydney Sniper also had four rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Casey Carangelo posted 10 points and grabbed four boards in only 11 minutes of play.
Amy O'Neill added seven points, seven assists, five steals and five rebounds while
Maria Palarino posted eight points and rebounds.
Bryant:
Sydney Holloway, Naomi Ashley and Hannah Scanlan combined for 36 of Bryant's points.
