PREVIEW: Women’s Basketball to Travel to FDU for NEC Semifinal

Terriers coming off 58-51 win over #5 Wagner on Monday

BROOKLYN, NY – St. Francis Brooklyn women's basketball will hit the road for a battle with #1 FDU in the Northeast Conference semifinals on Thursday evening. The Terriers are coming off a victory over #5 Wagner on Monday and will take on the Knights for the third time this season. The winner of the contest will take on either #2 Sacred Heart or #3 Merrimack in the final.

St. Francis Brooklyn Notes
  • The Terriers went into halftime trailing 29-24 to Wagner on Monday but stormed back to take the lead back in the third quarter. They managed to hold off the Seahawks and advanced to the NEC semifinals for the first time since 2015.
  • Tyra Myers led the way with 17 points. Angena Belloso had 14 points and a team-high nine rebounds and Sarah Bandoma added 12 points.
  • Rebounding was key for the Terriers as they won the battle 47-35. Sheridan Kavanagh had a team-high four offensive rebounds.
  • The win snapped a mini two-game skid for the Terriers as they defeated Wagner for the third straight time this season.
 
A look at FDU
  • The Knights enjoyed a strong conference season, going 14-2 to lead the NEC. Both of their losses came at the hands of Sacred Heart.
  • On Monday, they pulled away from No. 8 Central Connecticut State despite falling behind early. All-NEC Second Team Member led the way with 21 points on 9-of-14 shooting. Chloe Wilson made eight free throws, adding 18 points.
  • The Knights dominated the boards, grabbing 44 to CCSU's 27. Wilson led the way with nine and all five starters had four or more rebounds.
  • FDU defeated the Terriers both times during the regular season, shooting 51.9% from three-point land in the first meeting.
  • They have won 10 of their last 11 contests.

The winner plays in the Northeast Conference final on Sunday afternoon against either Merrimack or Sacred Heart.
