Nevena Dimitrijevic Selected as NEC Player & Rookie of the Week

SOMERSET, NJ– The Northeast Conference recognized freshman guard Nevena Dimitrijevic as the Player and Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon. The Serbian native becomes the first Terrier to garner both awards in the same week in program history.

The first-year guard from Serbia tallied a combined 43 points against Patriot League opponents, Army Black Knights and the Loyola (MD) Greyhounds on Wednesday and Sunday, respectively. Dimitrijevic averaged 21.5 points, six rebounds, and two steals. Both contests were victorious for the Serbian and her teammates.

During the Army contest, Dimitrijevic would average 38 minutes on the hardwood, land three triples from beyond the arc, grab eight rebounds, and add seven assists to her 21-point total on the evening.

Against the Greyhounds on Sunday afternoon, the freshman guard would add five assists, a pair of steals, four rebounds, and convert half her shots from the field (six-for-12), and net four triples out of seven attempted. During her trip to the free-throw line, Dimitrijevic landed six out of her attempted seven.

On the season up to date, Dimitrijevic is one of three players in the conference (Jade Johnson (St. Francis Brooklyn), and Emilia Krista-Grava (Wagner)) who have three 20+ point performances so far. The freshman also ranks first in assists-per-game with 7.0, and steals-per-game with 2.80.

Dimitrijevic becomes the first Terrier to be selected to the aforementioned Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, and Prime Performer in program history. She also becomes the first player in the conference to earn both awards in the same week since Saint Francis U's Caitlyn Kroll. The Red Flash former student-athlete earned the double honor during the week of February 14, 2018.

The Serbian guard and her squad will return to action tomorrow evening, November 27, when the Terriers cross the Hudson River and face the Highlanders of NJIT for a 7 p.m. opening tip, from the NJIT Wellness and Health Center.
