Nevena Dimitrijevic Earns Program Record Fifth NEC Rookie of the Week Award

SOMERSET, NJ– The Northeast Conference recognized freshman guard Nevena Dimitrijevic as Rookie of the Week on Wednesday afternoon. The Serbian native becomes the first Terrier to garner the award five times. The last conference student-athlete to do so, was Saint Francis University's Caitlyn Kroll during the 2017-18 campaign, where she went home with six.

The Serbian native set the conference record for a single-game in scoring by a freshman. The game represented a bounced back performance as Dimitrijevic was limited to just a basket on Saturday vs. Mount St. Mary's. She would follow up by tallying a career-high 31 points on Monday evening against Bryant. Dimitrijevic grabbed three rebounds, assisted on five baskets, and stole three om 35 minutes on the hardwood. She would convert 14-of-26 shots from the field.

Scoring 30 points in a single game has not been done by a Terrier since the 2018-19 campaign, when Jade Johnson succeeded the feat against Saint Francis University on February 25, when the Australian native scored 31. In the conference this season, only five student-athletes have broken the 30-point plateau. The Terriers are also the only team who have a pair of players in the respective category, the aforementioned Dimitrijevic, and junior forward Ally Lassen who tallied 30 against Sacred Heart one week ago.

Dimitrijevic becomes the fourth Terrier to garner three or more Rookie of the Week Awards. Back in 2001-02, Kim Weir took home three. While Leah Fechko earned three of the respective awards during her rookie season in 2012-13.

Following the foot-steps of the previous student-athlete to wear jersey number 1, Dimitrijevic surpassed former Terrier Amy O'Neill (141, 2017-18) on the single-season assists list, as she sits eighth all-time. Up next in seventh place is Kristen Miah (146, 2006-07).

The Terriers' freshman guard has etched her name into the tops of numerous categories on the conference's lists that includes six 20-point contests. She ranks fourth in the respective category. Her teammate, Jade Johnson has six as well, while Merrimack's Denia Davis-Stewart sits on top with 11. Dimitrijevic has a pair of contests, where she recorded double-digit assists, against NJIT, and Long Island University. She also has a pair of double-doubles on the campaign. Ranks sixth in scoring (13.9 PPG). First in assists (144, 6.26 APG). Tied for fourth in steals (43, 1.87 SPG) with Robert Morris' Nneka Ezeigbo. Second in assist/turnover ratio (1.87). Nationally, Dimitrijevic sits tied for eighth in the NCAA in assists-per-game with 6.3. She is tied with Virginia Tech's Taja Cole.

UP NEXT FOR DIMITRIJEVIC

Dimitrijevic and her squad will return to action on Saturday, February 15, when the Terriers travel down the block for a visit with the Sharks of Long Island University. Opening tip is set for 2 p.m.
