BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, NY – Senior guard and captain
Amy O'Neill was one of two student-athletes selected as the "Player of the Week". Saint Francis' (PA) Jessica Kovatch was also named to the prestigious honor. The achievement by O'Neill becomes the Northeast Conference's 12
th ever feat. Amy was also an "Honorable Mention" in this week's "Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association" article.
The Australian native registered her first career triple-double and the program's first as well by tallying 13 points, setting a career high in assists and rebounds with 12 and 13 respectively against Sacred Heart on Saturday afternoon.
O'Neill averages 9.7 points-per-game coming into the game. She also leads her squad in rebounding with 141 on the season so far. The senior captain is ranked 4
th in the NCAA in assists total, and atop the conference leaderboard.
In addition to the triple-double, O'Neill moved up the ladder on the program's record booklet. Moving three spots on the assists during a season list,
Amy O'Neill surpassed Pam Curcio, and Sandy Salerno to sit in 3
rd place. She also has surpassed the likes of former student-athletes Trisha Guli, Leah Fechko, and Pam Curcio for sole possession of 8
th all-time on the career assists list with 305.
The Terriers and
Amy O'Neill will return to action on Saturday when they face the Knights of Fairleigh Dickinson University for a 1 p.m. matinee at the Pope Physical Education Center. St. Francis Brooklyn will be honoring former player Karen Erving-Schiera as they will retire her respective number.
