Knights Hold Off Late Terrier Rally; 70-62

Box Score BROOKLYN, NY -- After falling behind by 14 on two different occasions, the St. Francis Terriers amassed a late comeback, coming within four of the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights, before ultimately losing, 70-62. 

The loss drops the Terriers to (7-12, 3-5 NEC) on their 2017-18 campaign. 

The Game:
The Terriers and Knights engaged in a defensive battle, with both teams shooting about 33% to end the first half, where FDU came away with a 29-26 lead.
 
The Knights extended their lead by as many as 14 in the fourth, but the Terriers fought back to cut the lead to 11 prior to the beginning of the fourth stanza, where they trailed 50-39.
 
The Knights regained a 14-point point with 7:02 left, rising up to a 55-41 advantage. Over the course of six minutes, the Terriers outpointed the Knights, 19-9 to bring the game within four with one minute left, 64-60. The Knights were ultimately able to survive the late Terrier run, thanks to some made free throws down the stretch.

The Terriers: 
Melbourne born Terrier Amy O'Neill led the team with a career-best 15 points on Australia Day. The junior point guard shot 6-of-10 from the field, made 2-of-3 from deep, and recorded three steals. 

Maria Palarino and Casey Carangelo added nine points each, while Alex Delaney contributed 10 points, nine rebounds, four steals and four assists. Additionally, Delaney passed Margaret Murphy for fifth all-time in three-pointers made in her career, where she now stands at 148.

The Knights: 
Natalie Zamora and Amina Markovic led the way with 18 points each against the Terriers.

Next Up:
The Terriers get to stay home and prepare for the Sacred Heart Pioneers, who they'll face on Monday, January 29 at 7 p.m. Afterward, the Terriers will return to the road to begin February.
