BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, NY – The Northeast Conference (NEC) announced today at its annual basketball media day that St. Francis Brooklyn junior guard
Jade Johnson was named to the Preseason All-NEC Team.
Johnson earned the Preseason award after being named to the All-NEC Second Team as a sophomore in 2017-18. Last season, she ranked fifth in the conference in points per game (14.7), led the league three-point field goal percentage (42.1%), and was fifth in free-throw percentage (77.2%). She scored a career-high 28 points in a win over Saint Peter's on November 30.
The guard is the first women's basketball student-athlete to be named to the Preseason All-NEC Team since Eilidh Simpson was selected to the squad in 2014. Simpson, like Johnson is a native of Australia.
The NEC also released its 2018-19 Preseason Poll, which had the Terriers picked tied for fifth by the leagues' head coaches.
St. Francis Brooklyn opens the 2018-19 season at home against Mercy on Tuesday, November 6, at 7 p.m. The Terriers then welcome Manhattan to the Pope Physical Education Center on Sunday, November 10, at 2 p.m.
