Battling Bryant:
The Bryant Bulldogs held off the St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers' gutsy performance on the road for a 73-63 victory on Monday night.

Both of the first two quarters were eerily similar, with the Bulldogs posting 21 points in each stanza, and the Terriers dropping 14, and then 17, heading into halftime down 42-31.

The Terriers turned the ball over 12 times in the first half, but managed to remain afloat offensively, thanks their 57.1% shooting. The Terriers entered the fourth quarter down 62-52, and continued to push Bryant throughout, at one point trailing by eight with less than two minutes to go.

In defeat, the Terriers out-shot the Bulldogs, hitting 47.8% from the floor and 44.4% from deep. The Terriers also cut their turnovers in half, only coughing up the ball six times in the final two periods.

A Rivalry Reigknighted:
Dating back to the 2011-12 season, the Terriers have owned the series against the Knights, winning 8-of-11. The Knights won the last showing between the two teams, which took play in Brooklyn Heights, edging out a St. Francis Brooklyn squad who largely controlled most of the match-up until the very end.

In Brooklyn Heights, Lorraine Hickman posted a career-best 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting in 18 minutes off the bench.

Of the Terriers' eight victories over FDU in this stretch, all but three have been by single digits.

Brooklyn Bomb Squad:
The Terriers are shooting an NEC-high 38.0% from three-point range this season, converting 126 three-pointers as a team on 332 attempts. In conference play, the sniping has improved to 39.1%, resulting from the team converting on 52-of-133 three-point shots.

The Terriers have drained 40% or more from three in nine games this season, and have two of the NEC's top three-point shooters in the conference (among qualifiers) in Jade Johnson and Alex Delaney.

Speaking of…

Jade County:
Jade Johnson is fifth among leading scorers in the Northeast Conference, recording a team-best 14.6 points per contest. The sophomore shooting guard is one week removed from her second Prime Performer honor of 2017-18 as a result of back-to-back 21-point showings in Terrier victories.

In 18 games this season, Johnson has reached double-digit points in 15 contests, including 11 straight appearances between November 30 and January 15. On the season, the Australian native has 27 steals (1.5 per), and she's also pulling down 4.4 rebounds per game from the guard spot. At 42.7% from three-point range, the second-year Terrier is third among all NEC players, and she also ranks near the top-10 in NEC field goal percentage (44.7%) among qualifiers.

Delaney's Historical Pursuit:
Alex Delaney, who is hitting above 40.1% from three this season, which is top-10 among NEC players, currently has 146 made from downtown in her career, putting her at sixth all-time on the SFBKWBB leaderboard. The Sydney Sniper is only one long distance make away from fifth place, a spot currently held by Margaret Murphy, who has 147.

Additionally, Delaney comes into Bryant nearly two weeks removed from bombarding Mount with a career-high 30 points, the first 30-point game in the program over the last three seasons. The 6-foot forward is averaging 19 points over her last four games, and 13.3 in 14 games since November 25.

The Magic Number:
Head coach John Thurston has his own historical pursuit. With 67 wins in six years at St. Francis Brooklyn, Thurston is one away from tying Irma Garcia's program coaching record of 68 victories.

Scouting The Knights:
Fairleigh Dickinson ended non-conference play with one of the better records among Northeast Conference teams 8-3. The Knights have since been 3-4, where the stand in NEC play.

Heading into Brooklyn, the Knights have won two straight games, defeating Central Connecticut State and Sacred Heart by double-digits. An earlier win against Wagner rounds out three conference victories for the Knights, which are accompanied by league losses to Robert Morris, Saint Francis PA, Mount St. Mary's and Bryant.

Amina Markovic averages a team-high 12.7 points per game for the season, and 14.9 points per game in NEC games.

Preseason Predictions:
The Terriers were selected to finish sixth in this year's Preseason NEC Coaches Poll. Last year the Terriers, who were also picked sixth, finished in seventh place and reached the NEC Quarterfinals.

Next Up:
The Terriers get to stay home and prepare for the Sacred Heart Pioneers, who they'll face on Monday, January 29 at 7 p.m. Afterward, the Terriers will return to the road to begin February.
