BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, NY – The Northeast Conference has recognized both senior guard
Amy O'Neill and freshman guard
Ebony Horton with Co-Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week honors respectively during the week of March 6, 2019. The Terriers took down both the Bryant Bulldogs and Mount St. Mary's (MD) on Saturday and Monday.
The Australian guard tallied a career-high in points on Saturday against Bryant, where she put up 28 points, assisted on nine baskets, stole a pair, and grabbed six rebounds in 37 minutes of action. O'Neill also set a career high in triples converted in one outing, along with shooting 80% (8-for-10) from the field. She also was perfect from the free-throw line in four trips (8-for-8). Against the Mount, Amy recorded 10 points, assisted on nine, grabbed eight rebounds, and stole a pair in 39 minutes of action.
The English native in
Ebony Horton tallied a combined 31 points, and grabbed a combined 15 points. Horton registered 27 minutes of action against Bryant, and 37 minutes against Mount St. Mary's (MD). In the Bryant contest, Horton converted 5-of-10 from the field, and assisted on three as well. In the latter contest, Ebony set a career high with four three-pointers made in a single game, and converted four free-throws out of a possible five tries.
The first conference honor for Horton, and the second co-player of the week honor for O'Neill, as she was honored with her first selection after she registered the program's first ever triple double against Sacred Heart on February 2.
Junior guard
Jade Johnson was also selected to her 12
th "Prime Performer" chart as well for a respectable week of a combined 38 points in the previous two contests.
Both players return to action on Thursday evening, March 7, when they travel north to New Britain to face the Blue Devils of Central Connecticut State for a 7 p.m. tip off from the Detrick Gymnasium.
