BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, N.Y. - The Northeast Conference named St. Francis Brooklyn's Lincy Valencia as Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week on Tuesday.
Valencia, a freshman from Colombia, won two of her three doubles matches, partnering with Gayathri Rajesh and Angelica Karlsson Hantzis.
She also prevailed in two singles matches, with a straight sets, 6-4, 6-4 win over Valeria Vinces of the Red Flash, and a grueling 6-4, 6-7, 6-4 win against Adriana Barney of Mount St. Mary's.
The week's action saw the Terriers pick up back to back wins for the first time this season. The team heads to Merrimack on Sunday looking to get back to .500 in conference play.
