BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, NY – Northeast Conference (NEC) coaches have placed the St. Francis Brooklyn women's cross country team in 10th place in the annual league Preseason Poll.
The Terriers finished 10th in last season's NEC Women's Cross Country Championship held at Central Connecticut State University.
The team will return
Diondra Bryant,
Aaliyah Williams,
Andrea Rojo,
Noelle Weyer,
Chinyelu Okeapku, and
Taylor Wilson from their 2017 squad. The incoming crop of Terriers includes junior
Leah Rivers, as well as freshmen
Tyiera Newland,
Brigid Ratiger, and
Perla Rodriguez.
Third-year head coach
Christopher Mills says he doesn't pay much attention to the preseason rankings and wants the team to utilize the platform as an opportunity to prove them wrong.
"On the women's side, it is going to be tough. We lost a lot in Annais (Cummiskey) and J'Renda (Rivera). We lost some leadership that Diondra and Aaliyah are going to have to learn, but overall I think the girls can perform well and come out with personal best times."
