NEC Announces 2019-20 Men’s Basketball Conference Schedule

BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, NY – The Northeast Conference (NEC) announced its entire 2019-20 conference schedule on Wednesday afternoon. St. Francis College Brooklyn is set to play an unbalanced 18-game conference schedule with nine home and nine away games.
 
"The Northeast Conference continues to be an extremely competitive league, and we look forward to another exciting season. Every NEC game is a battle, and we have to be on top of our game in order to be successful," said Terriers head coach Glenn Braica while discussing the league slate.

Conference Schedule Notes:
  • Longest homestand: two games (three times).
  • Longest road trip: two games (three times).
  • Faces Merrimack for the first time in program history on January 30.
  • Plays Central Connecticut State and Fairleigh Dickinson one time each.
  • Games breakdown by days of the week:
    • Monday – 1 game (last time played NEC game on a Monday, Jan. 21, 2019)
    • Tuesday – 1 game (last time played NEC game on a Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014)
    • Wednesday – 1 game (last time played NEC game on a Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017)
    • Thursday – 7 games (last time played NEC game on a Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019)
    • Friday – 1 game (last time played NEC game on a Friday, Dec. 29, 2017)
    • Saturday – 6 games (last time played NEC game on a Saturday, Mar. 2, 2019)
    • Sunday – 1 game (last time played NEC game on a Sunday, Dec. 31, 2017)
  • The Western, PA trip is the first road trip of the conference slate (Jan. 9-11).
  • Terriers are 86-74 under coach Braica in NEC play during his tenure as head coach.
NEC play tips off on Thursday, January 2, when the Terriers welcome the reigning NEC Champions Fairleigh Dickinson to the Pope Physical Education Center. Following the NEC opener against the Knights, St. Francis embarks on its annual Western Pennsylvania trip beginning on Thursday, January 9, when it takes on Robert Morris. On Saturday, January 11, the Terriers go head-to-head with Saint Francis (PA) in Loretto, PA.
 
St. Francis returns to the Pope for a mid-week matchup with the newly rebranded LIU Sharks on Wednesday, January 15. The Terriers are back on the road for a pair of contests starting with a meeting with local rival Wagner on Saturday, January 18, on Staten Island. St. Francis heads to Emmitsburg, MD on Monday, January 20, for a matchup with Mount St. Mary's (MD).
 
The Terriers return to Brooklyn Heights for a two-game homestand which begins on Thursday, January 23, against Robert Morris. On Saturday, January 25, St. Francis hosts Saint Francis (PA). The Terriers close out the month of January on Thursday, January 30, when they travel to North Andover, MA to face the newest member of the NEC, Merrimack.
 
St. Francis has a total of five home contests scheduled for the month of February, beginning with a matchup against Sacred Heart on Saturday, February 1. The Terriers take a brief trip to Smithfield, RI to face Bryant on Thursday, February 6. St. Francis is set to play four of its next five contests at the Pope as it'll take on Mount St. Mary's on Saturday, February 8, followed by a meeting with Merrimack on Thursday, February 13.
 
On Tuesday, February 18, the Terriers square off with LIU at the Steinberg Wellness Center in Brooklyn. St. Francis closes out its home schedule with a two-game homestand beginning on Friday, February 21, against Bryant. The Terriers final home regular season game of the season comes on Sunday, February 23, when they take on Wagner.
 
The Terriers conclude the regular season with a two-game Connecticut road trip. St. Francis faces Sacred Heart on Thursday, February 27, and then Central Connecticut State on Saturday, February 29.
 
The 2020 NEC Men's Basketball Championship takes place on March 4, 7 & 10 at campus sites. For the 16th straight year, the NEC Men's Basketball Tournament will consist of an eight-team playoff format with all games played at the home of the higher seed. After the quarterfinals, the teams will be reseeded, so the highest remaining seed plays the lowest remaining seed in the semifinals.
