The St. Francis Brooklyn men's water polo team opens conference play this week facing off against the Iona Gaels on Wednesday, September 26, at 7 p.m. The teams had previously met last season at the SFC Aquatic Center when the Terriers defended their home pool with a 15-8 victory. The Gaels went (8-21, 2-10 NEWPC) last year and are off to a (3-8) start this season.
LAST TIME OUT:
The Terriers return to Brooklyn Height after starting the season on the road. St. Francis Brooklyn is (0-8) after falling to California Baptist in overtime, 17-16, in its last contest on September 8, in the final match of the Tiger Invitational.
MEET THE TERRIERS:
St. Francis Brooklyn men's water polo extends the roster from last year, now counting 20 players. With 14 returners and six incoming student-athletes (three freshmen), the Terriers are more than ready for their first invitational of the year.
Head coach
Bora Dimitrov returns for his second season at the helm of the Terrier. Dimitrov was named the 2017 Northeast Water Polo Conference Coach of the Year. Long-time member of the St. Francis Brooklyn Athletic Department,
Carl Quigley joins the staff as an assistant coach.
2017 RECAP:
The Terriers had a season-high 10 consecutive wins, breaking through to being one of the top water polo teams in the east. The Terriers later finished fourth in the league.

The Terriers are back in action on Saturday, September 29, when they face Brown and Harvard at 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. respectively.
