Men’s Volleyball Adds Derrick Long Truong to Inaugural Roster

BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, NY – St. Francis Brooklyn men's volleyball head coach Andy Mueller announced today the addition of Derrick Long Truong to the inaugural 2019-20 roster.
 
"We are thrilled to add Derrick Truong. He is already on campus this spring and will be fully integrated by the time the rest of our signees arrive on campus in the fall. Derrick's ability to play multiple positions at a high level while providing integral leadership skills is a great boost to our program," said coach Mueller on the addition of Truong.
 
Truong is a native of Philadelphia, PA and previously attended Temple University before transferring to St. Francis Brooklyn. He is an extremely versatile player on the court as he is capable of playing libero, setter, and outside hitter. Truong has earned All-State, All-Conference, and All-Public League First Team honors over the course of his career. The Philadelphia, PA native plays club volleyball for the East Coast Power.
 
Truong, the newest addition to the roster joins Tim Walsh, David Vorfi, Andrew Piloto, and John Ferraro as the first five members of the St. Francis Brooklyn men's volleyball program. The trio of Walsh, Vorfi, and Piloto inked their NLIs on National Signing Day in November, while Ferraro signed with the Terriers in December.
 
On June 21, 2018, St. Francis Brooklyn announced the addition of men's volleyball as its 20th NCAA Division I sport. The Terriers' introduced Andy Mueller as their first-ever head coach in conjunction with the addition of the sport. Mueller has spent three seasons as the top assistant and recruiting coordinator for the St. Francis Brooklyn women's volleyball program. The men's volleyball program is set to begin competition during the 2019-20 season.
