Terriers Put Forth Strong Showing at Wagner Shootout

STATEN ISLAND, NY – The St. Francis Brooklyn men's and women's track and field teams both put forth strong efforts at the Wagner Shootout on Friday at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island, NY.
 
The men's team finished in second-place and notched 134 total points. The women registered a third-place finish and totaled 63 points. NEC foe Wagner came in first-place in both meets.
 
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS:
  • The Terriers had six student-athletes finish in the top eight of the 300-meter finals. Brian Strachn recorded the best time and a second-place finish for the Terriers. Strachn crossed the finish line at 35.79. Paul Clarke followed him in third with a time of 36.14. In fifth-place was Romario Thomas who registered a time of 36.67.
  • Feguy Mangnan, Michael Baker, and Joshua Beausil paced St. Francis Brooklyn in the 600-meter finals. Mangnan came in third-place with a time of 1:27.41. Baker totaled a time of 1:27.97, which earned him fourth-place. Beausil rounded out the Terriers in the top five with a fifth-place finish with a time of 1:30.81.
  • Terrell Howard, Remington Allen, and Nicholas Mejia racked up points in the 1000-meter finals. Howard came in second with a mark of 2:35.50, Allen earned a third-place finish (2:46.22), while Mejia came in fourth-place (2:48.98).
  • Orville Dixon Jr. continues to be a difference maker for the Terriers in distance events. The sophomore came in second-place in the mile finals with a total time of 4:25.69.
  • In the mile and 3000-meter finals, Zack Faljean earned a pair of top five finishes. He placed fourth in the mile with a mark of 4:46.77 and came in third in the 3000-meter finals with a time of 9:23.04.
  • McCoy Frederick claimed gold in the 60 hurdles finals with a time of 9.47. It was his first collegiate first-place finish.
  • The Terriers had an excellent showing in the sprint medley relay finals. Their A and B squads placed first and second respectively. The team of Paul Clarke, Daniel Hernandez, Brian Strachn, and Orville Dixon Jr. notched a first-place time of 3:37.03. The second-place squad of Feguy Mangnan, Jared Thomas, Andrew Defreitas, and Michael Baker totaled a time of 3:43.29.
  • Jordan Moorer picked up another first-place finish for the Terriers. He registered a mark of 12.36m in the triple jump finals.
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS:
  • A trio of freshman paced the Terriers to a top finish in the 60-meter finals. Janaya Lewis came in third (8.05), Zhoey Starkey came in fourth (8.17), while Danayshia McClendon recorded a fifth-place effort (8.19).
  • Standout Diondra Bryant came in fifth-place in the mile final with a time of 4:49.30.
  • The sprint medley relay team of Lewis, Okeapku, Newland, and Rivers totaled a time of 4:19.43 to earn 10 points for the Terriers.
  • Princess Missigher had another solid performance in the high jump finals. She came in third with a mark of 1.45m.
  • McClendon recorded a fourth-place finish in the long jump finals with a mark of 4.90m.
  • Zelucia Mogent came in fourth in the shot put as she registered a distance of 11.32m.
