STATEN ISLAND, NY – The St. Francis Brooklyn men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up competition at the Wagner Invitational today. The women's team finished in eighth-place, while the men's squad recorded a ninth-place finish.
The women's team posted 20 points, and the men's team notched 14 points. Four other Northeast Conference (NEC) teams participated in the meet (Central Connecticut State, LIU Brooklyn, Sacred Heart, Wagner).
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS:
- The women's team started off the event with a pair of top finishes in the 60-meter finals. Zhoey Starkey came in fifth-place with a time of 8.11. Tianna Cates came right behind Starkey in sixth-place and notched a time of 8.54.
- In the 200-meter finals, Janaya Lewis registered a second-place finish and final time of 25.87. Starkey continued her strong day with a fourth-place finish (26.74).
- Leah Rivers came in eighth in the 800-meter finals as she recorded a time of 2:30.73.
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS:
- Paul Clarke put forth a tremendous effort in the 200-meter finals as he took home gold and 10 points for the Terriers. Clarke crossed the finish line with a time of 22.06 and placed ahead of second place finisher Mile Fye-Moore from Central Connecticut.
- Terell Howard came in fifth-place in the 500-meter finals with a time of 1:06.63. Brian Strachn earned ninth-place in the event with a time of 1:07.59.

The Terriers men's and women's track and field teams are back in action next weekend as they are set to take part in the St. Thomas Aquinas Spartan Invite on Friday.
