STATEN ISLAND, NY - The St. Francis Brooklyn men's track and field team returned to action at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Friday after for their first meet of the 2023 indoor season.
St. Francis competed alongside 14 other collegiate programs at the Wagner Seahawk Shootout, with the Terriers securing seven individual top ten finishes along the way.
No team scores were recorded at the meet.
Malachi Aiken was the top finisher on the day, taking a first place finish in the triple jump competition with a 14.99m mark. Xavier Wright placed sixth in the final rankings, clocking in at 13.55m.
Wright also earned a tenth place finish in the long jump finals with his best jump reaching 6.48m.
On the track, Renaldo-Alleyne Noriega carried the torch for the Terriers. The senior took 6th place in the 60m final with a season-best 6.99 time. Noriega also paced the St. Francis contingent in the 200m final, taking 18th in 22.85.
KyMoy Phillip (51.40) and Jordan Jackson (52.34) took 12th and 15th, respectively, in their first outing in the 400m dash.
Elsewhere in the mid-distance races, Makhi Theosmy (1:06.70) led St. Francis in the 500m final with an eighth place finish.
Lance Hubert (2:02.91) recorded a new personal best in the 800m Friday afternoon and earned a 14th place finish for his efforts.
Hubert was also the first leg of the 4x400m relay team (Hubert, Josmy Cerda, Maxwell Ming, Kelon Martin) that took eighth place with a 3:32.25 finish.
NEXT UP: The Terriers return to Ocean Breeze on Friday, Jan. 13 for the Spartan Invite, hosted by St. Thomas Aquinas College. The action kicks off at 12:00 p.m.
