BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, NY. - The Terriers' bid for a Northeast Conference title was cut short on Friday afternoon, as St. Francis Brooklyn fell to the defending champions FDU by a score of 4-2.
The Terriers were off to a promising start with wins at two and three doubles, which gave St. Francis an early 1-0 lead. The victories came from Luis Foix Sotos/Matheus Paiva and Gustavo Pinho/Miroslav Cvjetan.
But the Knights turned the tide as the singles matches began, as Teodors Pukse defeated William Lindqvist Nilsson 7-5, 6-0 to even up the match. The Terriers' Jan Godfrey responded with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Niclas Pietsch, however from that point on the Knights rallied off three straight victories to clinch a berth into the finals.
The Terriers close out a strong 2022 season where they finished 13-7 (7-2 NEC).
