BROOKLYN, NY - St. Francis Brooklyn men's tennis closed out the regular season in style this weekend, taking down Northeast Conference opponents Sacred Heart and LIU. The Terriers defeated the Pioneers by a score of 6-1 and followed it up with a 5-2 win over the Sharks. They are now 6-1 in the NEC this season.
Kicking off the weekend with wins in two of three doubles matches against Sacred Heart, the Terriers carried their momentum into singles play by taking five of six battles. Three of the five wins went to three sets as
Jan Godfrey Seno,
Leon Harder and
Luis Foix Sotos closed out the win with hard fought victories.
Habib Stambouli and
Assil Boussayri captured wins in straight sets.
LIU battled in the team's second matchup of the weekend but a dominant doubles run vaulted the Terriers to yet another win. LIU won No1 and No. 4 singles for their two points. With the successful weekend, St. Francis Brooklyn eanred first place and a first round bye in the NEC tournament.
They will play the winner of #4 LIU and #5 Wagner on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.
