Men’s Tennis Clipped by Fairfield on Sunday Afternoon

FAIRFIELD, CT – The St. Francis Brooklyn men's tennis team (1-11, 0-5) fell to the Stags of Fairfield University (5-14, 2-2) on Sunday afternoon from the WAC Outdoor Courts in Connecticut. The Terriers finished the regular season on a seven-game skid that they will hope to fix during the NEC Tennis Championships beginning on Thursday in New Jersey. The Stags secured their second straight victory as they took down the aforementioned Terriers along with Niagara University one day prior.

The Terriers fought tooth and nail as they battled the Stags by showing heart in every match played. The first three singles matches that featured Tomas Dirube, Facundo Couso, and Daniel Blasco all took down their opponents in three set thrillers. Grant Louis battled down to the last point in each of the first two sets as Louis and Anthony Caputo took their opening pair of sets to a tiebreaker, and brought it all the way to double-digit points. Louis unfortunately could not come back as Caputo outshined the visitor in the third set. Freshman Facundo Couso had a strong finish as he fell in the first set, but came back to secure a point for the Terriers.
