GENEVA, Ohio - The St. Francis Brooklyn men's swim team closed out the 2022 NEC Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday night. The Terriers performance on the final day of competition secured a fourth place finish.
Jedi Morland Janes kicked off the final of competition with a podium, taking third place in the 1650y freestyle (15.54.96).
Elias Hysing (16:02.04), Benedek Lendvai (16:04.26), and Robert Wagner (16:21.21) finished 5-6-7 respectively.
In the 100y freestyle, Daniel Matheus Santos found his way atop the podium once again. Santos broke the NEC meet record and the St. Francis record with a first place time of 44.33 seconds.
Wagner was one of the top performers in the 200y backstroke race, finishing just off the podium in fourth place (1:51.33).
The Terriers earned points in the 200y breaststroke, as Uros Canic made the championship final and finished eighth (2:07.26).
After all 40 events were completed, the St. Francis team finished in fourth place with 446 points. Bryant swept the men's and women's events.
All total, the Terriers won 8 medals and set 5 new school records and 2 new NEC meet records over the five days.
Daniel Matheus Santos was the de facto SFBK men's winner of the meet, taking two first place finishes (100y freestyle, 200y freestyle), one second place finish (200y freestyle relay), and one third place finish (800y freestyle relay) He broke school and meet records in both individual races he won.
